Our story

Craft with its origin intact

VedikCraft is a marketplace for authentic Indian handicrafts — bought directly from the artisans and communities who make them, with every piece’s story told the way it deserves.

India’s handicrafts carry thousands of years of knowledge — passed hand to hand, village to village, loom to loom. Yet most of that work reaches buyers stripped of its story, mislabelled, or imitated by machines. And most of the money never reaches the maker. VedikCraft exists to change both: to bring you the genuine article, and to make sure the people behind it are recognised and fairly paid.

We are not a generic catalogue of “ethnic goods”. Every listing is a living tradition with a name, a place and a method — and we put that front and centre, where it belongs.

The provenance promise

Provenance is the heart of VedikCraft. For every piece we surface — in plain sight — the craft tradition, the region it comes from, the community that makes it, and, where it exists, its Geographical Indication (GI) registration: India’s legal certification that a craft genuinely originates from its traditional home.

  • Named craft, region and maker community on every product
  • GI status shown wherever a craft is officially registered — your assurance of authenticity
  • Artisan-direct sourcing — fair, transparent earnings for makers, not middlemen
  • Honest materials, dimensions and HS codes for confident shipping, anywhere in the world

Meet the makers

Behind each listing is a living tradition: the Mithila women painters of Bihar retelling epics in natural pigment; the Ghadwa and Dhokra Damar metal-casters of Chhattisgarh pouring molten brass into lost-wax moulds; the weavers of Banaras coaxing gold thread into silk. Dozens more — in Kutch, Channapatna, Bidar, Kashmir and beyond — work the same way their forebears did, by hand and by memory.

We work to put their names and regions front and centre, because authenticity isn’t a label — it’s a person, a place, and a method you can trace.

Why it matters

When you buy provenance-verified craft, three things happen at once: a centuries-old tradition stays alive, a household is supported directly, and you own something genuinely made by hand — imperfect, particular, and impossible to mass-produce. The small variations in colour, grain and finish aren’t flaws; they’re the maker’s signature.

That is the whole point of VedikCraft. Browse all crafts, or — if you make genuine Indian handicraft — sell your work with us.
