    About Kalamkari

Kalamkari means 'pen-work' — hand-drawn (Srikalahasti) or block-printed (Machilipatnam) narratives in natural dyes, fixed through a labour-intensive cycle of mordanting and washing. The Srikalahasti style grew around temples, telling epics on cloth.

    Why “GI-tagged” matters

    Buying Kalamkari — questions, answered

Are VedikCraft's Kalamkari pieces hand-painted or prints?

Is this Kalamkari authentic and GI-certified?
Yes. Kalamkari is a GI-protected craft (registered as “Srikalahasti Kalamkari / Machilipatnam Kalamkari”). Every order ships with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and a QR code to verify its maker, region and GI status.
What does an authentic Kalamkari piece cost?
Handmade Kalamkari typically ranges from ₹1,200 to ₹70,000, depending on size, detail and the artisan.
How do I care for a Kalamkari piece?
Keep Kalamkari out of prolonged direct sunlight and damp, and dust it gently. Because each piece is handmade from natural materials, slight variations are part of its character.
