Authenticity & GI promise
Every piece is the real thing — made by the hands and in the place its craft belongs to. That promise is the whole reason VedikCraft exists.
Indian handicraft is among the richest living craft traditions in the world — and one of the most copied. Mass-produced imitations crowd out the artisans who carry these skills forward. VedikCraft exists to put genuine, traceable craft back in your hands, with the maker's name on it.
What a GI tag means
A Geographical Indication (GI) is a legal mark of origin. It certifies that a craft genuinely comes from a particular region and is made the traditional way — like Pashmina from Kashmir, Channapatna toys from Karnataka, or Madhubani painting from Bihar. A GI is more than a label: it protects a community's heritage and guarantees you're buying the real thing, not a lookalike.
How we verify authenticity
- We source artisan-direct. Pieces come from the makers, family workshops and craft clusters themselves — not anonymous resellers.
- We confirm the maker and the craft. Before a seller lists, we verify who they are, the craft they practise and their region.
- We check GI claims. Where a piece is described as GI-tagged, we confirm the craft and its registered origin.
- One craft per maker. Each seller is rooted in a single craft and region, so expertise and provenance stay genuine.
The provenance you receive
Every piece you buy carries its story with it:
- Maker — the artisan or workshop who made it
- Region — where the craft comes from
- GI tag — where the craft is GI-registered
- Materials — what it's made of and how
If it isn't authentic, we make it right
We stand behind every piece. If you ever receive something that isn't the authentic, artisan-made craft we promised, we'll make it right — a replacement or a full refund. No quibbling. That's our guarantee.
