About Lucknow Chikankari

Chikankari is the whisper-fine white-on-white embroidery of Lucknow, said to have been introduced by the Mughal empress Nur Jahan. Its shadow stitches and net-like 'jaali' work bloom across delicate pastels in over thirty distinct stitches.
