About this piece

This brass lady oil lamp, or deepak, is 4.5 inches high and weighs 790 grams. Made from pure brass in Moradabad and polished, the figure holds a lamp for a puja. The base is steady on a shelf.

Empty the oil and wipe the lamp after each use. Clean soot and tarnish with lemon and salt, then rinse and dry. It is a fitting gift for Diwali or a new home.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Care, shipping and returns

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.

Dispatch in 1 to 3 working days from India by tracked courier. Shipping is charged by parcel weight and shown at checkout. Import duties and taxes, if any, are collected by the courier on delivery.

Arrived damaged or not as described? Send a photo on WhatsApp or email within 48 hours of delivery and we send a replacement at our cost. International orders cannot be cancelled or returned once shipped. Full international terms.

Good to know

All Diyas and Deepaks
How long does a brass diya burn?
A small diya holds about an hour of ghee or oil; deep cups of 100 ml burn six to eight hours with a thick cotton wick.
Which oil should I use?
Ghee in the mandir, sunflower or sesame oil elsewhere. Mustard oil burns well outdoors but blackens the rim.
How do I clean oil residue?
Soak ten minutes in hot water with dish liquid, scrub the cup with a soft brush, rub with lemon and salt, rinse and dry fully before storing.
Can I reuse it every Diwali?
Yes. Cast brass diyas do not soak oil or crack; the same set comes out every year.
Do sets ship together?
Yes, sets ship in one carton within two working days. COD is available across India.
Is 790 g steady?

At 790 g it sits steady on a flat surface.

Is 4.5 inch right for a shelf?

At 4.5 inch it suits a pooja shelf or table.
