Lakshmi and Laxmi Ganesh Idols (Laxmi Ji ki Murti)
Laxmi ji · Lakshmi murti · Laxmi Ganesh joda · Mahalakshmi · pital ki murti
About these pieces
This category covers Lakshmi on her own and the Laxmi Ganesh pair that sits at the centre of Diwali puja. 194 are pure brass and 40 are aluminium, and a few sets add Saraswati as a third figure. All are made in Moradabad.
Start with where the idols will sit. The 2 to 3.5 inch pieces are listed for a desk, a cash counter or a car. For a home mandir, most buyers look at 4 to 8 inch. If you are buying a pair, check that both figures are the same height and from the same design, which is why pairs are sold together as a joda. Weight runs from about 80 g to 5.4 kg; a heavier pair sits steadier on a chowki when the aarti plate is moving around it.
Unlike a clay pair bought fresh each Diwali, a metal pair is kept. It is washed, dried and placed back on the mandir, and used again the next year.
