About this collection

Mahashivratri, Saturday 6 March 2027, is the night of the abhishek: water, milk, honey and bel leaves poured over the Shivling through the four prahars. At home that needs a Shivling on a jalhari with a drain, a lota or jaldhara for the pouring, a Nandi facing the ling, and the trishul, snake and damru that go with it.

This page has them in brass, from a 2 inch desk Shivling to 10 inch temple sizes, with the abhishek lotas and accessories. Order by 28 February.

Good to know

Can a Shivling be kept at home?
Yes, a small one, under 6 inches by most traditions, placed in the pooja room with the jalhari drain facing north and Nandi in front.
What is a jaldhara?
A brass pot with a fine hole that drips water on the Shivling continuously, hung above it. Used through Sawan and on Shivratri.
What is poured in the abhishek?
Water first, then milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugarcane juice, each followed by water, then bel leaves, dhatura and bhasm.
Brass or stone Shivling?
Both are used. Brass is lighter and does not crack; the black stone ling is set in a brass jalhari in many sets on this page.
When should I order?
By 28 February for delivery before Mahashivratri.
