This brass kettle for tea weighs 1,160 grams and is pure brass. It is polished and made in Moradabad, with a spout and handle shaped for daily use. It suits a kitchen counter or a festive serving.

Wash with mild soap and dry fully after each use. The kalai or tin lining on cookware wears over time; get it re-coated by a kalai-wala when it thins. It is a traditional gift for a new kitchen.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.
