About this piece

This brass stand diya, or deepak, has a step-style base and is 11 inches high. It weighs 380 grams and is pure brass, polished and made in Moradabad. The steps hold several lamps for a puja.

Empty the oil and wipe the stand after each use. Clean soot and tarnish with lemon and salt, then rinse. It is a fitting gift for Diwali or a temple.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Care, shipping and returns

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.

Dispatch in 1 to 3 working days from India by tracked courier. Shipping is charged by parcel weight and shown at checkout. Import duties and taxes, if any, are collected by the courier on delivery.
