About this piece

This wall hanging plate shows a ladies' face in relief and is 8 inches high. It weighs 970 grams and is polished and made in Moradabad. Hang it in a pooja room, a living room, or a corridor where it catches the light from one side.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.
