About this piece
This copper sorahi, a jug in a modern silk finish, is 9 inches high and weighs 420 grams. It is polished and made in Moradabad from copper. The jug suits water at a table or a kitchen counter.
Rinse with clean water after each use and dry the jug fully. Wipe with a soft cloth and avoid scouring. It is a practical gift for a friend or a family.
The craft
Moradabad. Cast, hammered and lacquered by hand, for three hundred years.
Sand cast, hand engraved, lacquer finished.

How it is made
Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.
