About this piece

This second brass pooja thali set for Diwali weighs 900 grams. Made from pure brass in Moradabad and polished, the set suits a home mandir and a Diwali puja. The shallow rims hold the puja items neatly.

Wipe with a dry cloth after each puja and keep the set dry. Use lemon and salt for tarnish, then rinse. It is a useful gift for a new home.

The craft

Moradabad. Cast, hammered and lacquered by hand, for three hundred years.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Care, shipping and returns

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.

Dispatch in 1 to 3 working days from India by tracked courier. Shipping is charged by parcel weight and shown at checkout. Import duties and taxes, if any, are collected by the courier on delivery.
