About this piece

This brass panchpatra for pooja is 2.7 inches high. It is pure brass, polished in Moradabad, and used to hold the water and spoon for the puja. The shape sits neatly on a puja thali.

Wipe with a dry cloth after each use and keep it dry. Use lemon and salt for tarnish, then rinse. It is a traditional gift for a puja set or a new home.

The craft

Moradabad. Cast, hammered and lacquered by hand, for three hundred years.

Sand cast, hand engraved, lacquer finished.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Care, shipping and returns

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.

Dispatch in 1 to 3 working days from India by tracked courier. Shipping is charged by parcel weight and shown at checkout. Import duties and taxes, if any, are collected by the courier on delivery.
