About this piece

This Shiv Parivar idol is 5 inches high and weighs 700 grams. Made in Moradabad from pure brass and polished, it shows Shiva with the family in one carved piece. It suits a home mandir shelf or a corner for Shravan puja.

Keep it dry and wipe with a soft cloth after each puja. Lemon and salt take off tarnish; rinse and dry at once. It makes a good gift for Mahashivratri or a new home.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.
