About this piece

This aluminium Laxmi and Ganesh murti pair is polished and made in Moradabad. The Bandhanwar pair suits a home mandir or a puja shelf. The two figures are finished side by side on one base.

Dust with a dry cloth and keep the pair dry. Avoid scouring the surface, since aluminium scratches. It is a fitting gift for Diwali or a new home.

The craft

Moradabad. Cast, hammered and lacquered by hand, for three hundred years.

Sand cast, hand engraved, lacquer finished.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Care, shipping and returns

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.

Dispatch in 1 to 3 working days from India by tracked courier. Shipping is charged by parcel weight and shown at checkout. Import duties and taxes, if any, are collected by the courier on delivery.

All Idols and Murtis

Which size idol suits a home mandir?

3 to 5 inch for a shelf mandir, 6 to 10 inch for a pooja room, 12 inch and up for a temple or entrance. Height is on every listing; allow 6 inches of clear space around a large idol.

Is this idol solid brass?

Yes, sand cast in our Moradabad workshop, polished and lacquered. The weight in grams on the listing is the honest measure; thin sheet idols weigh half as much.

How do I clean a brass idol?

Lacquered idols: a soft dry cloth. Raw brass: lemon and salt or tamarind pulp, rinse, dry at once. No steel wool, no acid soak beyond ten minutes.

Can I use it for daily puja and for festivals?

Yes. Brass idols are permanent; they are bathed, dressed and worshipped year after year and are not immersed.

Is gift packing available?
