About this piece
This aluminium mandir for the home, shown with Laxmi and Ganesh, is 5.5 inches high and weighs 320 grams. It is polished and made in Moradabad, and built as a small shrine for a shelf. The arch is finished evenly.
Wipe with a soft dry cloth and keep it dry. Avoid scouring pads on aluminium. It is a fitting gift for a home mandir or a new home.
The craft
Moradabad. Cast, hammered and lacquered by hand, for three hundred years.
Sand cast, hand engraved, lacquer finished.

How it is made
Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.
Care, shipping and returns
Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.
