About this piece

This brass laddu box bowl is polished and made in Moradabad from pure brass. It holds a small offering of laddus or sweets during a puja. The compact shape suits a Laddu Gopal altar.

Wipe with a dry cloth after each use and keep it dry. Clean tarnish with lemon and salt. It is a sweet gift for a Laddu Gopal devotee or a family puja.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.

Is brass safe for cooking and eating?

Yes with kalai (tin lining) on cookware, which our kadhais and handis carry. Avoid cooking tomato, tamarind or lemon in uncoated brass. Glasses and thalis are safe for water and dry food.
