About this piece

This brass pooja thali stands 1 inch high and weighs 550 grams. It is polished and made in Moradabad from pure brass. The shallow rim holds the diya, roli, and rice for a daily puja.

Dry it after each puja and wipe with a soft cloth. Clean tarnish with lemon and salt, then rinse and dry at once. It suits a home mandir or a gift for Diwali or a wedding.

The craft

Moradabad. Cast, hammered and lacquered by hand, for three hundred years.

Sand cast, hand engraved, lacquer finished.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Care, shipping and returns

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.

Dispatch in 1 to 3 working days from India by tracked courier. Shipping is charged by parcel weight and shown at checkout. Import duties and taxes, if any, are collected by the courier on delivery.
