About this piece

This brass chowki, or bajot, a stool-style seat, is 20 inches high and weighs 15,360 grams. It is pure brass, polished and made in Moradabad, and sturdy enough for a deity idol during a temple puja. The top is flat and steady.

Wipe with a dry cloth after each puja and clean tarnish with lemon and salt. Place a cloth under the idol. It is a fitting piece for a temple.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Care, shipping and returns

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.

Dispatch in 1 to 3 working days from India by tracked courier. Shipping is charged by parcel weight and shown at checkout. Import duties and taxes, if any, are collected by the courier on delivery.
