About this piece

This aluminium table diya, a set of six, is 0.5 inch high and weighs 140 grams. It is polished and made in Moradabad, and the set holds small lamps for a Diwali display. The diyas are finished evenly.

Empty the oil and wipe with a soft dry cloth after use. Avoid scouring pads on aluminium. It is a light gift for a Diwali display.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Care, shipping and returns

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.

How long does a brass diya burn?
A small diya holds about an hour of ghee or oil; deep cups of 100 ml burn six to eight hours with a thick cotton wick.
Which oil should I use?
Ghee in the mandir, sunflower or sesame oil elsewhere. Mustard oil burns well outdoors but blackens the rim.
How do I clean oil residue?
Soak ten minutes in hot water with dish liquid, scrub the cup with a soft brush, rub with lemon and salt, rinse and dry fully before storing.
Can I reuse it every Diwali?
Yes. Cast brass diyas do not soak oil or crack; the same set comes out every year.
Do sets ship together?
