The Moradabad edit
How it is made
Brass is poured, turned, cut by hand, then sealed.
Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.
- Lacquer finish, so no weekly polishing
- A good piece rings when tapped. Thin brass sounds dull
- Weight and wall thickness listed on every product
- 01CastMolten brass poured into sand moulds, one piece at a time.
- 02TurnThe rough casting is trued on a lathe to the right wall thickness.
- 03EngravePatterns cut by hand with hammer and chisel. No two are identical.
- 04FinishBuffed to shine and sealed with clear lacquer.
