Big Durga Idol in Brass (Large Durga Maa Statue for Temple and Hall)

This page holds 13 big Durga and Devi idols from ₹5,860, in heights from 15 to 35.3 inch. Twelve are pure brass and one is aluminium. They weigh from 2.74 kg to 70 kg and are made in Moradabad.

Sizes fall into two groups. The 15 to 18 inch Durga Maa idols are home pooja room and small temple pieces; listings include 16, 17 and 18 inch. From 22.5 inch upwards you are buying for a mandir, a pandal committee, a hall or an institution, with Durga Maa at 22.5, 24 and 35.3 inch. The page also has Mahishasura Mardini at 26 inch, the form with the buffalo demon at her feet, and two Tara Devi idols at 31 and 33 inch. Half the pieces here cost ₹31,250 or more. A Durga idol is wide as well as tall, because of the arms, the weapons and the lion, so measure the width and depth of the altar. Heavy pieces need a firm, level base and two people to lift. Lift from the base, never by an arm or a weapon.

A brass idol is not immersed after Navratri. It stays in the temple and is cleaned for the next year. Dust with a soft brush between the arms, and use lemon and salt only on plain surfaces, away from any painted detail.
