About this piece
This brass sindoor dani for pooja is 2 inches high and weighs 20 grams. It is pure brass, polished and made in Moradabad, and holds sindoor on a puja tray. The shape is small.
Wipe with a dry cloth after each use and keep it closed. Clean tarnish with lemon and salt. It is a neat gift for a puja room.
The craft
Moradabad. Cast, hammered and lacquered by hand, for three hundred years.
Sand cast, hand engraved, lacquer finished.

How it is made
Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.
