About this piece

This brass tope with lid is 6 inches high and weighs 1,680 grams. Made in Moradabad from pure brass and polished, it is a mid-size pot for a small family. The rounded body sits well on the burner.

Wash with mild soap and dry at once. Kalai on the inside wears over time; have it re-coated when it thins. It is a useful gift for a new kitchen.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.
