About this piece
This brass manjira for pooja, a pair of small cymbals, is 1.1 inches high and weighs 160 grams. Made from pure brass in Moradabad and polished, it is used for bhajan at home. The cymbal is finished evenly.
Wipe with a dry cloth after each use and keep it dry. Clean tarnish with lemon and salt. It is a fitting gift for a devotee.
The craft
Moradabad. Cast, hammered and lacquered by hand, for three hundred years.

How it is made
Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.
