About this piece

This brass chowki, or bajot, a stool-style seat, is 20 inches high and weighs 15,360 grams. It is pure brass, polished and made in Moradabad, and sturdy enough for a deity idol during a temple puja. The top is flat and steady.

Wipe with a dry cloth after each puja and clean tarnish with lemon and salt. Place a cloth under the idol. It is a fitting piece for a temple.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.

Is this made for daily puja use?
Yes. Every piece is cast in Moradabad from solid brass for the mandir, not sheet-metal décor; weight is listed so you can judge the casting.
How do I keep it clean?
Rinse after use, dry at once, and polish monthly with lemon and salt or Pitambari. Lacquered pieces need only a dry cloth.
Can brass be used for abhishek and water offerings?
Yes. Brass, copper and bronze are the traditional puja metals; steel and aluminium are not used for abhishek in most households.
Do you ship before festivals?
Dispatch is within two working days; order 7 to 10 days before a festival for safe delivery anywhere in India.
Is bulk pricing available for temples?
