About this piece

This iron agarbatti stand for loban dan is 5.5 inches high and weighs 260 grams. It is polished and made in Moradabad, and the iron base holds the loban above the tray. It suits a home mandir or a puja table.

Wipe dry after each use and keep the stand away from water. A light coat of oil protects the iron in humid months. It is a practical gift for a puja room.

The craft

Moradabad. Cast, hammered and lacquered by hand, for three hundred years.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Care, shipping and returns

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.
