About this piece

This steel pooja accessory, a chokta, is 7 inches tall and weighs 1,000 grams. It is stainless steel, polished in Moradabad, and sized for a puja tray. The form is finished evenly.

Wipe with a damp cloth after each puja and dry at once. Mild soap is enough to clean the surface. It is a useful gift for a puja room.

Moradabad. Cast, hammered and lacquered by hand, for three hundred years.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Care, shipping and returns

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.
