Ram Darbar Idols (Ram Sita Lakshman Hanuman Murti)
Ram Darbar · Ram parivar · Sita Ram · Ram Lakshman Janaki · pital ki murti
About these pieces
Ram Darbar shows the court of Shri Ram: Ram and Sita at the centre, Lakshman at his side and Hanuman kneeling at their feet. It is one idol with four figures, usually cast on a single base. 87 are pure brass and 19 are aluminium.
A Ram Darbar is wider than a single idol of the same height, so measure the width of your shelf as well as the headroom. Four figures on one base also mean a lot of metal. A 5 inch brass set here weighs 1.24 kg, a 14 inch one weighs 6.32 kg, and the range goes up to about 20.7 kg. Use the weight to compare two sets of the same height: the heavier one has thicker, more solid figures. For a home mandir, the 4.5 to 6 inch sets are the common pick.
The gaps between the figures hold water after a wash. Tilt the idol and dry it with a soft cloth so no marks form along the base.
