About this piece

This steel kalash for pooja is 17 inches tall and weighs 1,590 grams. It is stainless steel, polished and made in Moradabad, and sized for a home mandir or a small puja. The wide mouth holds water.

Wipe with a damp cloth after each puja and dry at once. Mild soap is enough to clean the surface. It is a fitting gift for a home mandir.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.

How do I keep it clean?

Rinse after use, dry at once, and polish monthly with lemon and salt or Pitambari. Lacquered pieces need only a dry cloth.
