What should I buy on Dhanteras if not gold?

Brass or copper utensils, a kalash or lota, a Lakshmi or Kuber idol, or a new diya. The tradition is to bring a new metal object into the house; the metal does not have to be precious.

Is brass auspicious for Dhanteras?

Yes. Brass (pital) is the traditional household metal in India and is bought on Dhanteras for both the kitchen and the mandir.

What is a Kuber deepak?

A deep oil lamp, often with a Lakshmi or Kuber figure, lit on Dhanteras evening and kept burning through Diwali for prosperity. Ours are listed under diyas on this page.

When should I order to receive before Dhanteras?

By 3 November for metro cities and by 1 November for the rest of India. We dispatch within two working days and the courier takes three to five.

Can I gift brass utensils on Dhanteras?

They are the most common Dhanteras gift after sweets. A brass glass set, a thali, or a lota with a lid is useful and keeps for decades.
