Lota and Panchpatra, 4 to 8 inch, Under ₹1,000
About this collection
Lotas and panchpatras in this middle size and budget band are chosen for a puja table, for holding water during the ritual, and sometimes as a small gift. Most of the pieces are copper, with the rest in brass, so the metal is part of the choice. The thing that matters most is the capacity: check the millilitre figure on the listing, since two pieces of the same height can hold different amounts.
Copper darkens as it sits in air and brightens again with lemon and salt, so a clean, dry shelf keeps it looking its best. Do not keep sour liquids in copper for long, and rinse the vessel after each use.
