Brass Lotas for Pooja
About this collection
A lota holds the water for pooja, for the kalash, or for offering at the mandir. Choose by what it has to do: a small lota of about 2 to 3 inch sits on a thali, a 4 to 5 inch one holds enough for daily offering.
Weight tells you the build. A heavier lota of the same height has thicker walls and stands steadier on a shelf, but is tiring to pour from all day, so check the weight against how often you will lift it.
Wash with plain water after pooja and dry it. Water left standing leaves marks inside brass, and a rub with lemon and salt brings the colour back.
Good to know
Which size lota is right for daily pooja?
A 3 to 4 inch lota is easy to hold and fills a pooja thali comfortably. Go to 5 inch or above only if you pour water for a large kalash or several deities.
Does the capacity matter?
Many listings give the capacity in ml in the name. Use it to match the lota to the kalash or the amount of water you offer.
Can I keep water in a brass lota overnight?
You can, but empty and dry it after pooja so it does not stain. Rinse before the next use.
