About this piece

This brass urli bowl for floating flowers, a carved pillar design, is polished in Moradabad from pure brass. Its carved rim catches the lamp light for a Diwali display. The bowl is finished evenly.

Empty and dry the bowl after the festival and wipe it with a soft cloth. Clean tarnish with lemon and salt. It is a classic Diwali centrepiece or a gift for a new home.

The craft

Moradabad. Cast, hammered and lacquered by hand, for three hundred years.

Sand cast, hand engraved, lacquer finished.

How it is made

Brass is melted and poured into sand moulds, cooled, then turned on a lathe to true the shape. Engravers cut the pattern by hand with a hammer and chisel. The piece is polished on a buffing wheel and sealed with a clear lacquer so it stays bright without weekly cleaning.

Care, shipping and returns

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from detergents and damp. Handmade pieces vary slightly in finish, that is the point.

Dispatch in 2 working days from the hub. Delivery in 4 to 7 days across India, free over ₹999. Pay by UPI, card or netbanking, or choose cash on delivery with ₹99 paid online to confirm.

7 day returns. Damaged or not as described: full refund, pickup on us. Changed your mind: full refund minus ₹99 pickup.

Is it solid or hollow?

Cast brass, solid unless the listing says sheet or hollow. The weight in grams tells you; a 6 inch cast figure is usually 400 g or more.

Does brass need polishing?

Lacquered pieces stay bright with a dry cloth. Raw and antique-finish pieces develop a patina; polish with lemon and salt only if you want the shine back.

Which direction for vastu pieces?

Tortoise in the north or north east, elephant pair facing inward at the entrance, swan pair in the south west bedroom, Kamdhenu in the north east. Details are in the vastu guides.

Can it be gifted?

Yes, it ships in a rigid gift box within two working days, with a message card on request.

Will the colour match the photo?

Hand finishing varies slightly from piece to piece and photos are taken in daylight; expect small differences in shade, never in shape or size.

Can it be moved?

At 17.5 kg it is heavy, so place it where it will stay.

Is the weight right?

The listed 17.5 kg is high, so check the listing before buying.
