Brass Nataraja Statue (Natraj Murti)

This page holds 13 Nataraja statues from ₹905, in heights from 6.5 to 35 inch. 12 are brass and 1 is aluminium. Each shows Shiva as Nataraja, the dancer inside the ring of flames, with one leg raised.

Size decides everything with a Nataraja, because the ring is as wide as the statue is tall. Measure the width of your shelf, not only the height. The 6.5 to 9.9 inch statues fit a home mandir, a study or a music room. The 13.5 and 14 inch statues are right for a console or the front of a dance classroom. The 20, 23 and 35 inch statues are stage, studio and temple pieces. Weight climbs fast with height: the range here is 430 g to 41 kg, and the largest pieces need two people to lift and a floor-level pedestal. The aluminium statue, at 9.9 inch, is the light option for a wall shelf.

The flame ring and the raised hands are the thin parts of the casting. Always lift a Nataraja from the base, never by the ring. Dust between the flames with a soft dry brush, since cloth catches on the points.
